Developing My Bum Marketing Income Stream

Part of my journey to success online includes internet marketing and affiliate marketing techniques like Bum Marketing. This is by far the easiest to implement because you don’t even need a website. I first encountered the Bum Marketing course online about a year ago but haven’t started implementing it until now.

I ended up with a special report that was published as a WSO (Warrior Special Offer) that outlined a routine. I’m pretty much using that routine, with some modifications. Here’s my method:

  1. Find a product to promote
  2. Get 30 long tail keywords (as described in the free course)
  3. Write one article per keyword
  4. Put a resource box with the product link
  5. Submit article to one of the directories that lets you put the affiliate link directly in the resource box. I’ve been using goarticles.com

And that’s it. Rinse and repeat as long as you like. If the product does well, find even more keywords for that product. The goal is to squeeze out as much money as you can from one product.

Also, when choosing a product, I always make sure I believe in it in some way. A lot of the products and services I promote I’ve actually had experience with. I suggest you adopt a similar policy because it gives you credibility in the long run.

The thirty articles per product is considered the testing phase.  If a product does well, I plan on doing one or all of these things:

  • Writing more articles for the product
  • Advertising the product in ezines (with a landing page, of course)
  • Using pay per click advertising to generate more income from the product

Get Paid to Blog at Today.com

I currently have two blogs at Today.com One called This Girl Cooks and another called Writer Girl. When I first signed up for them, they were offering $5 per post.  Now, they are only offering $1 per post plus a certain amount for every $1000 page views. This month I am getting an extra $5 per 1000 page views.

$1 a post is not a lot. In fact, I wrestled with whether or not it was truly worth my time to post here. But I decided to go through with it and here’s why:

  • I have several blogs on the same topics – I could easily cross post from my other blogs.
  • Knowing that I only get paid $1 a post, I won’t spend long writing the actual post.
  • This is a good way to increase my overall readership. I can use the Today.com blog readers to direct traffic to my other projects. How different is this than guest posting? To me, not that much different – and with guest posting I don’t get paid anything.
  • I can still promote affiliate links in my post (I  think – I can’t find any information otherwise) which means that the $1 rate isn’t necessarily accurate.

In addition, I found out that they have a marketplace for writers. There are call for content and the rate appears to be $5 for articles that range in size from 250 words to 500 words. The pay isn’t excellent, but articles of that length would take me less than fifteen minutes to write if I knew the subject well enough.

So I am going to continue posting there. If you decide to sign up, kindly click on the button, below. That’s another thing – they are currently running a nice affiliate program. So if you sign up and decide you like what they have to offer, sharing this fact with others could give you even more income.

Associated Content – Make Money Writing and Promoting Your Work

Join Associated Content I love Associated Content – always have. I remember when it was still new and I’ve watched it grow. Over the years, my reason for using the site has changed. At first, I looked at it as a way to make some quick extra cash and get some articles published.

It’s still a good way to get articles published. However, they are looking for specific content that is fairly unique. When the site was younger, it was easier to find topics. Now it’s a little more challenging, but still quite doable.

As I’ve grown and matured in my career, I stopped using the site as a primary source of income. Now, I use it to help give my existing articles extra mileage. I specify “non exclusive” and publish it right away. Since I do a fair amount of article marketing and post articles to my blog, I don’t see the harm in re-publishing them at Associated Content.

AC offers revenue based on page views. The amount varies depending on how popular your content is overall. I have a rating of 6 which gives me a certain amount of money. Ratings go up to 10.

When I don’t have anything lined up in my schedule, however, I still submit articles to AC for payment. Finding a good topic is a matter of getting familiar with the site in order to understand what AC is looking for. Once you crack the code, you can easily find success here. I am averaging about $6 per article and I normally choose topics where I can write a 500 word article in 15 minutes.

How to Monetize My Blogs

My husband and I saw Dark Knight last night and got home fairly late. We promptly fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 4 AM. By the time I got ready for bed and actually went upstairs, my brain was fully awake. So I sat there, thinking about ways to monetize my blogs – this one, and my Make Money Online, One Step at a Time blog.

Even though I’ve been making money with it, I realize that I am tired of Adsense. It forces the reader to click away from my site and not visit any of my affiliate links. Plus, when they do click, I only make pennies. Hardly seems worth it.

This came about because I couldn’t find a place to put it on any of my new themes. Then, I remembered something Rosalind Gardner said in her Super Affiliate Handbook – that you should only use Adsense under special circumstances, as long as it doesn’t detract from your affiliate links.

Money isn’t the reason why I blog. I always make sure I provide great content and that I help people. It’s truly what drives me. :)

So how will I monetize my blogs? It’s simple. By talking about products and services that I use and like.

Changed Wordpress Theme for my Main Blog

I have a blog that I post to all the time. The goal is to help people Make Money Online, One Step at a Time. I’m a fan of the magazine style templates and I had one installed but…

I never quite liked it. It was a bit messy and had a few design features that drove me crazy. The theme I installed today, however, is very good. I still need to work on getting the template how I want it, but it’s close and I am pleased.

If I had a nickle for each time I installed a new theme on that blog… :)

First Step: Thinking About What is Really Worth My Time

The first step I am taking on this journey is to figure out what is really worth my time. Currently, I have myself spread a little thin. I’ve started a few new blogs, started the Thirty Day Challenge, have some blogs up on various blog networks…

I want to use my time wisely. For example, I make $1 a post plus ad revenue on one network and just ad revenue on another. The verdict with that is I don’t think posting at either of those is a good use of my time right now.

The ideal thing would be to monetize all of my blogs and collect the ad revenue. But can I pull that off in just a few weeks?

What IS Worth My Time

Here’s a list of what is worth my time. These things have turned out to be pretty lucrative for me.

  • Herbal Medicine Expert at eHow.com – I write 7 articles a month for pay plus I get some ad share revenue
  • Posting at KatherineHuether.com – I have a solid readership and the blog is gently monetized.
  • Posting at and monetizing my new blogs
  • Doing the Thirty Day Challenge

My next step is to get my calendar out and start making a schedule on what I will get done and when.

Can I Make $10,000 in Just Two Weeks?

Sure, why not?

Actually, my target is $3000 but I’ve decided to over-shoot because it will give me the confidence and the kick start I need. I’ve been hacking away at this “make money online” thing for a while and need something to jump start my efforts.

And now, I have some urgency.

You see, we’re moving and are not selling our house. We’re renting it and we don’t have any renters lined up. The chances are very good that for a few months, we will need to pay our mortgage, plus rent for our new place.

Not good, and I don’t want those few months to be stressful.

So I thought I’d take this opportunity to declare my intentions to the world. I am going to make enough money to pay a few months of mortgage and have some money leftover. I would also love to be able to enjoy our travels without worrying about money,
