I wish I could describe to you what I’ve been going through these past few days. I’ve known for a while that something needed to change about my business but I haven’t known what. I’ve been writing furiously in my journal and I finally came to grips with what was botherine me.
I’m bored.
It’s so simple, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. The writing that I do doesn’t hold my interest – isn’t interesting – isn’t even lucrative! I’m sorry but writing articles on “garage door openers” is not going to help me make a living, especially when the article is barely (or not even) paying me $3.
Earlier today, I created a folder on my computer called “old stuff”. I put everything business related in it. Okay, I’ll take some of th stuff out as I restructure but some of the folders I won’t be removing because they have to do with writing that I’m sick of.
Notice the new theme? I thought this would be a great opportunity to change it. Another symbol of a new beginning. The idea came to me last night. I had a brief detour (it went blank after an upgrade and theme change!) but it’s all better now.
Anyway, I have a simple plan really- to write… to make sure that what I write is something that I’m at least having fun with. I’m sick of making lists and making things complicated. Here’s to a new start! Prost!

Good to see you back!
I’ve been going through something similar – only I’m not bored with WHAT I’m writing, I’ve just been writing SO much for SO long, I’m kind of exhausted overall. I’ve decided to start 2010 out with a fresh, new approach. It’s simple as well. I’ll be blogging about it soon!
Hugs,
Michele
Hi Michele, I can’t wait to see your blog about your changes. It’s part of life, huh?
something good with the bad then
I LOVE the theme you decided to go with, Katherine.
Sharp, clean edges. It’s easy to read and the rounded corners are beautiful; I love rounded corners. lol
*cheers* Also, congratulations on realizing that it’s not much of a living to try and live on pitiful pay writing about things you hate.
What sort of things do you LOVE? What do you want to write about?
Katherine
Occassionally, I’ll look in and see what you’re up too because I think you’ve been fairly successful at this writing, internet marketing scheme for a while.
You’re progress astounds me as well as gives me hope that I can TRY and do what you have done and be successful.
I actually stopped writing because I play in a band and it consumes much of my time, but now I’m ready to start back up WRITING and creating niche blogs. (HELP!)
I just wanted to let you know how much I, and I’m sure others appreciate you making available information on how you do things – despite your periodic, “bordom.”

Linda, exactly! That’s a nice way to look at it.
Rebecca, I think the problem is that I need to spend more time:
– being a food and travel writer
– writing fiction, personal essays, and poetry
– writing a novel and a screen play
– working on my blogs with topics that I love – like this one
He he – thanks – this was a helpful exercise!
Thims, your comment made me smile! I’m so happy that you appreciate what I have going on here and I’ll do my best to remain helpful.
I do agree – $3 articles can be extremely helpful when money needs to be made fairly quick. I just try to avoid doing that kind of work unless I have no other choice.
But I figure, if I’m stubborn for the next two months and resist that, it will build a foundation that will propel me through the new year.
Thanks so much for stopping in!
